Getting to Ireland

One of the joys of going to Ireland is the ease of which you can get there. With the rise of low-cost airlines you can nip across the Irish Sea for just a few quid. Airlines, such as Ryan Air and BMI offer some fantastic deals on flights. But to get the best flight prices you need to book in advance, the closer to your holiday departure date you book, the more expensive your flight is likely to be. So it’s probably best not to go for those last minute cottage holiday deals, but book up well in advance instead.

You don’t have to fly of course. Taking the ferry is an option too. The ferry service also has the advantage that you’ll have your car with you when you arrive. Whereas with a flight, you’ll need to hire a car when you get there. The cost of the car hire can be quiet high, so it’s best to take the car hire cost into consideration when deciding to fly or take the ferry.

Taking the ferry also allows you to take much more of your stuff with you, which can be very handy when staying in a self catering accommodation. You can load up with all your favourite things, and not have to worry about finding a supermarket when you arrive. If you’re travelling with children it’s also handy to have all their stuff too – which is why we always travel by car; flights are just too much hassle.

Anyway, should an Ireland cottage holiday be your kind of thing, you can see a good selection of holiday cottages in Ireland, I just hope you find something you like.
